I totally agree this isn’t something that happens all the time. If I was bitching constantly I would get that he’s sick of it. It’s more like maybe once every couple of months? I don’t know, it just seems like he’s allowed to vent about coworkers, etc but I’m not allowed to vent about a friend because that’s different and I should doing what he tells me to. I find it super frustrating. Is it when he gives any advice or is it the way he gives advice? Do you think there’s a way he can give the advice without being condescending? I know that it’s unwelcome, to begin with, but I’m wondering if it’s something about the way he does it that can make rephrase the advice and you can let him know you’re just venting without feeling like you’re being talked down to. Oh, it’s definitely the way mixed with I wasn’t asking in the first place. He has good intentions, but it comes across so poorly. We’ve talked about it enough times that I don’t think he’s ever going to understand my perspective on it. You are spot on. Like the girl has been my best friend for over a decade, I definitely do not need you to tell me how to talk to her.
