Product Description

I think you hit the nail on the DUX The Month Subscription shirt . head. I keep trying to switch to KDE due to architectural/performance considerations (I prefer compiled QT to JavaScript/GTK), but I keep coming back to Gnome. Don’t hear me hating on KDE, they’ve accomplished some pretty amazing stuff, but I’m the kind of person that doesn’t always enjoy having an option for everything. I agree with your point. I’d rather have a singular vision, even if I don’t always 100% agree with everything than a “someone might want this, let’s throw it in”.

It’s the DUX The Month Subscription shirt . consistency and cohesiveness that always brings me back to Gnome. The open-source community tends to really like features and, but having someone willing to say “no, we don’t need that” lends to a better experience overall in my opinion. Plus the integration between different components (GDM, in particular, feels way more tied together than any other display manager). If gnome devs hadn’t overdone the “No-We-don’t-need-that”-mentality, there would be no learning curve at all. I hated Gnome 3 until I spent some time on Windows 8. I think a lot of the hate is just that it is a different way of interacting than people are used to. It’s fine once you learn it, but the learning curve is no fun. Windows 8 broke a lot of my traditional desktop comfort already, so picking up Gnome was much less painful. I’d disagree. I think you’re right that the lack of dock/panel is a lot of the reason that people don’t like Gnome. I think you hit the nail on the. head.
