Dear Frances, the luxury British footwear label behind the cult mesh Balla flats, has added handbags to its offering for the first time.The debut handbag collection, described as a “testament to timeless design and directional Italian craftsmanship,” is the result of an 18-month collaboration with “one of Italy’s finest factories” and aims to offer the same directional minimalism from its footwear collections.The collection features six silhouettes, the ‘Arturo’ box bag, ‘Gio’ small tote, ‘Como’ medium tote, ‘Mari’ small crossbody, ‘Celo’ medium crossbody and the multi-faceted ‘Dante’ weave bucket bag, crafted in black calf leather and hand-pleated Nappa leather.Designed to exude “quiet confidence and minimalist luxury,” each style has been crafted with a considered function with hidden magnetic closures, buttery leather linings and understated hardware to offer “day to evening versatility with an ease of elegance”.Commenting on the category expansion, Jane Frances, founder and creative director of Dear Frances, said in a statement: “Expanding into handbags feels like a natural progression for Dear Frances at this moment, we’re thrilled to create silhouettes that can be worn season after season and that feel and look better with time.“We strongly believe in reverting back to quality, long-lasting styles. Barcelona-based responsible luxury swim and resort wear brand Seabass has launched its debut womenswear collection.The high summer collection marks a broadening of Seabass’ existing offering and translates the distinctive old-world charm of its children’s and men’s collection into timeless women’s pieces featuring Victorian sailor neckties, retro prints and ’60s silhouettes.Seabass, founded in 2019 by Kayleigh and Barry van Ruiven after a family vacation with their son Bass, has a distinct retro aesthetic, offering nostalgic designs that harken back to a time of glamour, sophistication, and alluring modesty, as well as UPF 50+ protection.Each piece is also Fairtrade and handmade in Portugal utilising Seaqual fabric, which is made from recycled ocean plastic waste.Highlights from its first womenswear collection include the one-piece ‘Sailor’ swimsuit available in four colourways, a solid ‘pearl white’ with navy trim and three unique handprints, alongside the two-piece ‘Coco’ with high waisted briefs and a cropped top with trimmed placket and neat buttons.To launch the category expansion, Seabass tapped actress and poet Greta Bellamancina to front the campaign, alongside her husband, artist Robert Montgomery, and their children, shot on location at their home in Kent by photographer Melanie Rodriguez.
